California hunting covers a lot of country, from blacktail in the Coast Range to wild pig in oak woodland and mule deer in the eastern Sierra. The Fierce Mini Rogue family is built for youth, women and smaller-framed hunters, and its light carbon design makes long hikes up steep canyons easier on a younger shooter.

These rifles are bolt-action hunting rifles with carbon fiber stocks, a shorter length of pull and an adjustable comb or push-button cheek piece. The CT Mini Rogue XP weighs about 6 lb with a 12.75 inch pull. Calibers include 6.5 Creedmoor, 308 Winchester and 7mm-08 Remington among others. California has its own rules on hunting ammunition, so check current state rules before choosing loads.

Fierce updated the Mini Rogue with a streamlined grip, push-button cheek adjustment, a TriggerTech trigger and a C3 carbon fiber barrel; the forend takes Arca-Swiss clamps and a bipod.

6mm Creedmoor is known for flat trajectories and low recoil, a combination that suits varmints, predators and deer at sensible ranges.

This rifle has a 20 in barrel. Finish: Smoked Bronze / Sonora.

For a young hunter, comfort comes first. A long length of pull forces the shoulders back and pulls the eye away from the scope. Choose a short pull, then raise the comb so the cheek sits firm and the scope picture is full and round. Begin with 22 or 6mm Creedmoor for practice before moving to 6.5 Creedmoor or 308 for deer and pig.
